Commodity traders

Commodity traders supporting us contribute to shaping global policy on transparency in commodity trading. They also gain access to a wide network of extractive companies that deal with increasing demands for transparency and reporting related to the extractive sector.

Commodity traders are encouraged to follow the EITI Reporting guidelines for commodity traders. They are also required to make an annual contribution to the international management of the EITI. Many of our supporting oil, gas and mining companies which engage in trading activities, such as Glencore, also support our work on commodity trading transparency.

Commodity traders are represented on the EITI Board. Mr James Nicholson of Trafigura is the contact point for EITI supporting commodity traders.
