Volkswagen group

The Volkswagen Group, with headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany, is one of the world’s leading automobile manufacturers and the largest carmaker in Europe.

Statement of support

As a Group, our various memberships ensure that we are active in a range of areas. We are currently involved in the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) and the Forum for Sustainable Development of German Business (econsense).

Engagement with the EITI

In the context of managing mining activities, transparency is key to ensuring the integrity of the supply chain. In line with Volkswagen Group commitment to sustainable, transparent and responsible management in the supply chain, the EITI Standard requires the disclosure of information along the extractive industry value chain from licensing to extraction, to how revenue makes its way through government, to how it contributes to the country.

Volkswagen held an international regional meeting in 2012 to ensure worldwide integration of the "sustainability in supplier relations" concept into all the Group’s brands and regions. All the concept’s structures and modules are regularly reviewed in exchanges with other organisations and companies, for example, the Forum for Sustainable Development of German Business (econsense), the German Automobile Industry Association (VDA)  and the European Automotive Working Group on Supply Chain Sustainability (CSR Europe).
